Word Games

  • Noun Explorer Identify nouns from a group of words. Click the fish with the noun to feed it a worm and score a point.
  • Verbs in Space Identify verbs from a group of words. Click on the robot holding a verb to score a point.
  • Magic Verbs In Magic Verbs, you will be challenged to change the atmosphere or mood of the text, by choosing specific verbs. Remember, these verbs are magic, and each verb you choose will bring the sentence to life
  • Adjective Adventure Identify adjectives from a group of words. Click the spider with an adjective to feed it a fly!
  • Word Frog Word Frog is a language arts game that provides practice in matching antonyms, synonyms, and homophones. The target word appears on the frog, with the word category underneath defining the relationship to be matched.

Spelling Games

  • Spelling Frame A game to test your knowledge of the Year 5/6 spelling words. Each word is read aloud, included in a sentence and broken into syllables. To play, select your year group, choose a spelling rule and choose to either practice the spelling or take a test with those words.
  • Spooky Spellings This game uses the words listed in the UK National Curriculum as being 'Common Exception Words' i.e. tricky words. Choose a year group, then choose bird box to select your word list. Arrange the letters in the correct order to spell each word. The bats will take the letters away when you get it right.
  • Look, Cover, Write, Check A great way to practise phonics, spelling patterns or the common exception words listed in the UK English Curriculum.
