SHARED READERS
Note for parents:
Each file below will open one of the shared reading books. We have read some of these books in class, some we have not read but contain sounds that the children know. We read these books together and practise sounding out words using the phonics we have learned. The earlier books contain the sounds we learned in the Autumn Term. The last book in the list will contain the most recent sound we have learned.
Children can look at the books in order or pick their favourite! The front of each book tells you the sounds that it contains. Please read and enjoy these books with your children and encourage them to sound the words. We encourage children to read the books more than once and read books containing sounds that they learned a while ago to help them revise these sounds.
You could also use the books to encourage the children to write words or short sentences using the sounds that they know. Please note, that when asking your child to write a word it must contain sounds that they have learnt. For example: If you are asking a child to write a word that begins with the 'c' sound, you could ask them to write cat or can, they would not be able to write 'car' until they have learned the 'ar' sound. The order that sounds are taught can be found on the sound mats available on our class page.
