Our
Curriculum

Inspiring curiosity & building knowledge.

At Edgebury Primary School, we believe that a rich and ambitious curriculum should open up the world to children. Our curriculum is designed to build strong foundations in knowledge and skills, inspire curiosity and encourage children to think deeply about what they are learning. We want every child to leave Edgebury confident, capable and excited to continue learning.

Children are encouraged to question, explore, create and make connections, and to developing not only subject knowledge, but the confidence and curiosity to be inquisitive and capable  learners. â€‹Each subject is carefully planned so that learning builds progressively from Reception through to Year 6. Children revisit and develop important knowledge and skills over time, helping them to remember more, understand more and use what they have learned with increasing confidence.

We place particular importance on:

  • strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics;

  • rich subject-specific knowledge and vocabulary;

  • creativity, enquiry and problem-solving;

  • meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom;

  • ensuring all children can access and engage with the curriculum.

Our curriculum reflects both the National Curriculum and the needs of the children and community we serve. We aim to broaden children's experiences and give them opportunities to encounter ideas, places, people and possibilities.

More Than Academic Learning

Education at Edgebury is about developing the whole child.

Alongside academic learning, we help children develop the confidence, resilience, independence and social skills they need for life. Through our wider curriculum, enrichment opportunities and Learning and Life Skills programme, children are encouraged to become thoughtful, responsible and engaged members of their community.
